The prize tradition is intended to inspire the scandinavian green roof market toward excellence and to raise public and professional awareness about the multiple benefits of green roofs. The green roof was a part of that desire and pip teamed with living roofs inc to design and install a unique green roof in the city. Green roof awards in late may 2003 winners of the first annual green roof awards of excellence were announced during the first national green roofs conference see page 3. The scandinavian green roof award has been given out annually to the best green roof project in scandinavia ever since the prize s inception in 2000 as an initiative of the city of malmö. The roof is teeming with life and beautiful to look at and demonstrates how even a small green can have a big impact on the ecological health of the city.

Award recipients and their projects are described below. Submissions in seven categories recognizing accomplishments in design implementation and innovation were awarded by a multidisciplinary team of judges.
